Why eco-efficient purchasing?

Because,
eco-efficient purchasing is strategic, idealistic and profitable...

Strategic because:

  • You improve your image or goodwill with customers and the general public when you can show that you use eco-efficient suppliers and products
  • Eco-efficient purchasing represents strategic positioning and long-term security. You do not need to expose yourself to unnecessary risk
  • Long-term risk as regards the supplier's technical standard/development is reduced - eco-efficient suppliers probably have a greater ability to survive (important for long-term customer-supplier relationships). Experience shows that suppliers who are at the forefront in the environment field are also at the forefront in other areas.
  • Environment is a long-term trend.

Idealistic because:

  • Environmental issues concern the whole person
  • Consideration for the environment represents new relations internally and externally
  • Eco-efficient purchasing is an enjoyable and creative challenge!
  • Eco-efficient purchasing is a contribution to a better environment

Profitable because:

  • All strategic positioning is based on money
  • Badwill can be avoided. For example, if it is revealed that your supplier or its product has broken the law or bypassed ethical or moral norms, you can find yourself in the limelight, having to justify yourself in the press as the user of the product.
  • Resources saved are money saved! In most cases, the focus on eco-efficient purchases gives a direct pay-back - either through better satisfaction of needs or through a reduction in costs.
